Provincial Registration Examination

The College administers Provincial Registration Examinations at the EMR, EMT and EMT-P levels to ensure that all individuals are professionally competent and have met the entry requirements to practice when they apply to register with the College.

Candidates are evaluated based on their application of knowledge, skills, and judgment. Testing includes both written (multiple choice) and practical components.

Important: you must successfully complete the Provincial Registration Examination before you are eligible to apply to be a registered practitioner with the College.

Are you eligible?

To sit the Provincial Registration Exam, you must:

  1. successfully complete an approved educational program OR receive approval from the Registration Committee through the equivalency process.
  2. take the exam within one year of graduating from your education program or recieving approval from the Registration Committee.

Important: Based on the Provincial Registration Examination Attempts Policy, you only have three attempts to pass the Provincial Registration Exam (both components) within one year of your graduation date. Both the exam and your application for registration must be successfully completed within one year of graduating from an approved education program. If you do not meet these requirements, you will be required to retake your educational program or a refresher program.
