Jim Olson Memorial Award
Each year the College presents the Jim Olson Memorial Award to a paramedic candidate, based on his or her highest overall achievement on the Emergency Medical Technologist – Paramedic exam.
The award was created in memory of Jim Olson, a paramedic and long-standing, valued member of the College's Examination Administration Committee.
Originally from Medicine Hat, Jim's paramedic career began in 1988 when he graduated with honours from SAIT. His career led him and his family to many areas of the province including Athabasca, Wetaskiwin, High Level, and Edmonton. Jim passed away suddenly in 1998 and the Jim Olson Memorial Award was created to honour his devotion to the College and the examination process.
