Provincial Registration Examination
Are you eligible?
For EMR examination eligibility or information, visit our Public Site. To sit
our EMT or EMT-P Provincial Registration Exam, you must
- have successfully completed an approved educational
program OR have received approval from the Registration
Committee through the equivalency process.
- be writing the exam within one year of completing the above
step.
Important: Based
on the Provincial Registration Examination Attempts
Policy, you only have one year from graduating from an approved
educational program and three attempts to pass the Provincial
Registration Exam (both components) and complete your Change of
Status application with the College or you will be required to
retake your approved educational program before being
eligible.
Want to write the exam?
If you're eligible and wish to
write the exam, you must complete the following steps:
- Determine your preference for the dates you want to write
the exam.
- Complete the application form for the designation you
wish to write.
- Submit the application form and all applicable fees to
the College.
- Note that all written exams (unless specified otherwise
in a formal letter) are held at the Coast Edmonton East Hotel (2100 Premier Way, Sherwood
Park, Alberta). All practical exams are held at The King's
University College (9125 - 50 Street, Edmonton,
Alberta).
You passed! What's next?
Once you have successfully completed the exam, you must
complete a Change of Status Form and submit it to the
College with the appropriate accompanying documents within one year
of your graduation date (from your approved education
program).
Some things to remember:
- If you require Special Accommodation to write your
examination, there will be a $250.00 fee applied to your
application.
- All candidates who sit the Provincial Registration
Examination are eligible to appeal their results only up to 30 days
after receiving their exam scores in the mail. The cost for an
appeal is $150.00 for the written portion and $450.00 for the
