If your registration was not renewed and/or was cancelled, you are not currently registered and must refrain from using the protected titles of EMR, PCP and ACP. You also cannot practice until your reinstatement is completed.

If you did not renew YOUR ANNUAL REGISTRATION

If you did not submit an application prior to the deadline specified in your cancellation notice, your registration will be cancelled. In this instance, you will be considered a lapsed registrant and will be required to meet the reinstatement conditions, which include additional requirements and fees.

Eligibility

You may submit an application for reinstatement if you meet all the following criteria:

  1. You previously held registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics,
  2. You meet the requirements for registration, which include the following items:
    • Being current in practice of the profession.
    • Being able and fit to practice the profession.

Currency in practice

The currency of your practice will determine certain reinstatement requirements. Please review the following circumstances to determine which requirements apply to you.

Less than 12 months  If the College determines that it has been less than twelve months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, you will be required (at minimum) to meet all continuing competence requirements and pay required fees.
12 to 24 months If the College determines that it has been more than twelve months but less than twenty-four months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, you will be required (at minimum) to provide evidence that you successfully completed an approved refresher program and provincial examination within the previous 12 months for the discipline level sought and meet all other College requirements to obtain full registration. Provisional registration is an option for applicants awaiting the provincial examination.
More than 24 months If the College determines that it has been more than twenty-four months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, your application will be referred to the Registration Committee. The committee will consider your application and make a decision on your reinstatement, and may impose additional requirements and fees.
