If your practice permit is no longer active (it was cancelled, lapsed, etc.) you are not eligible to practice paramedicine or use the protected titles of EMR, PCP, and ACP.

Am I eligible to reinstate my practice permit?
You are eligible for reinstatement if you meet the elements required to hold an active practice permit:

  1. You are current in practice of the profession
  2. You are able and fit to practice the profession
  3. You are of good character and reputation
  4. You have completed any mandatory continuing competence
  5. You have addressed any outstanding regulatory matters (if applicable)

How is currency in practice determined?
The currency of your practice will determine reinstatement requirements. Please review the following circumstances to determine which requirements apply to you.

Less than 12 months

If the College determines that it has been less than twelve months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, you will be required (at minimum) to meet all continuing competence requirements and pay required fees.

12 to 24 months    

If the College determines that it has been more than 12 months but less than 24 months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, you will be required (at minimum) to provide evidence that you successfully completed an approved refresher program and the College examination for your discipline level within the previous 12 months. You must meet all other College requirements to obtain full registration, including obtaining professional liability insurance.

More than 24 months   

If the College determines that it has been more than 24 months since you entered a lapsed/inactive status, you will be required to provide evidence that you successfully completed an approved program for your level of practice within the previous 12 months.

You will be required to register under the provisional category to complete the College exams and meet all other College requirements to obtain full registration, including obtaining professional liability insurance.
