For the Alberta College of Paramedics, (under Bylaw Part VII) the Council grants the Executive Director the authority to run the organization. Reporting to the President of the Council, the Executive Director is the most senior staff leader responsible for all operations, programs and activities of the Alberta College of Paramedics.
The role of the Executive Director is to design, develop, and implement strategic plans for the College. The Executive Director provides vision, leadership, and sound managerial skills. They are also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization, which includes managing committees and staff, as well as developing business plans in collaboration with the Council.
As the senior leadership role for the College, the Executive Director fulfills a motivational role in addition to office-based work. The Executive Director mentors employees, members, and volunteers. The Executive Director leads the organization and develops and enforces its organizational culture.
The Executive Director is informed of everything that goes on in the organization for all operations and administration, as well as all regulatory activities and programs. This includes staffing, membership, budget, assets, and all other company resources. The Executive Director is also expected to improve the organization’s profitability and profile.
